A unique and interactive program featuring the new film Sustainable Nation.

  • See the film (20 mins) about how Israeli visionaries are using technology to help tackle the world’s water-energy crisis.
  • Discuss the Jewish origins and values of environmentalism, sustainability, and water conservation.
  • Join the global Instagram campaign to save water, as students around the world unite by pledging to “do more with less”.

Program recommended for ages 11+
Program dates: January 20 – February 10

Excite students about coming together to problem solve critical issues such as sustainability and water conservation using film, discussion and social media.

20 minute film

Students will learn about the global water crisis and how Israelis, as leaders in the fields of environmentalism, sustainability, and water conservation are helping our planet.

Educational Resources

You will get sources, guided questions and reflection questions as well as calls to action focused on the following four topics: Environmentalism, Sustainability, Water, and Helping our planet.

Social Media Campaign

Utilizing Instagram to encourage students to connect with one another while they “pledge” to conserve water in unique and interesting ways.

Sustainable Nation

In a world where water is everything, Sustainable Nation follows Israeli innovators who are taking valuable lessons learned from Israel’s water shortage to the rest of the world.

From the low-tech – using plants to clean waste water – to the high-tech – a computer system that monitors moisture in trees – discover how they are bringing clean, safe water to millions of people around the world.

  • You will receive an email with a hi-definition download of the film- please be sure to download and test the film before the day of the program

  • Yes, once you purchase the license, the film and program can be used whenever.  However, the Instagram portion of the campaign will be more relevant during the campaign dates: Jan 20 -Feb 10.

  • Yes

  • First step is to open the screening kit (you should have received this in an email from Noam Weissman)  and print the customizable pledge signs BEFORE THE DAY OF THE PROGRAM. Once you’ve shown the film and had the discussion, students should then fill in the signs with the appropriate school name and location.  Students should then take pictures holding the signs and then direct message those pictures to @jerusalem_u on Instagram.
